We will be holding a special election to fill a vacancy on the board. If you are interested in being a part of the board, come to our special board meeting on January 18th at 6:30 PM. Watch your email for further details about this special election! The governance committee will meet January 18th at 7:00 PM (following the special board meeting). They will begin work on establishing procedures on how to accomplish some of the policy. The finance committee reports that our budget is very close to being balanced (with a ½ % projected overrun). We expect that at the end of the year, we will have closed that gap, as well. Despite the economic pressures, though, we were still able to give our staff years of service increases (although we weren’t able to give cost of living increases). The academic excellence committee is preparing the annual parent survey. You can look for this coming soon! The facilities committee’s next meeting is January 21st at 4 PM. At this meeting, they will be meeting with an architect to discuss possible changes to the gym. The gym floor is still in need of replacement and they are also considering changes to allow bleachers for middle school sports spectators. If you are interested in helping, please come to the meeting! They also reviewed an assessment of our facilities provided by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). There are a number of recommendations of things that need to be fixed in Building A (1st, 2nd and Library) and Building B (Gym, Music, Art, Technology, Preschool). They will investigate possible grants to help pay for some needed repairs. The Executive Search Committee reported that the hunt for a new principal is going well. We have received twenty applications so far. Initial interviews are scheduled for February 20th with the board interviewing the final three candidates on February 27th. The board will vote on the final candidate at the March 8th board meeting.
